Leona Alcombright

Mrs. Leona Addie (O'Dell) Alcombright, 71, of Millhouse Apartments, 75 Commercial St. Adams, died Thursday morning, February 21, 2008, at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in North Adams on February 28, 1936, a daughter of the late Levi and Dorothy (Rennell) O'Dell. Her father died before she was born, and she was raised by her mother and Stepfather, Vincent Albrycht. She attended schools in North Adams and Hancock. She had also lived briefly in the State of Florida, until returning to this area. Mrs. Alcombright last worked at Adams Laundry and Dry Cleaning Co. in Adams as a seamstress for several years. Earlier, she had worked at several local nursing homes, as well as a nursing home in Florida. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas, Adams. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was especially fond of her pet cat. She is survived by 1 son - Raymond N. Alcombright and his wife, Lisa, of Adams; Her close friend, Nelson Montgomery, with whom she resided; 2 Brothers - Vincent Albrycht of Edgewood, New Mexico; and Herbert Albrycht of Bennington, Vermont; 3 Sisters - Rosella Gotzens and Vinetta Brazil, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and and Sylvia Duquette of Cheshire, MA; 2 Grandchildren - Eric J. Devio of Phoenix, AZ and Crystal Martin of Dalton, MA; 1 Great Grandson - Eric Devio of Phoenix, AZ; 2 Step Grandchildren - James Briggs of Clarksburg, MA and Lee Ann Briggs of Adams; Her former husband - John Alcombright of North Adams; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a son, Bernard Devio, who died in infancy; a brother, Raymond O'Dell, and by 3 other brothers, who died in infancy. The funeral will be held on Monday, February 25th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. James F. McAndrews, SJ. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Elder Services of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
