Chester "Ali" Alibozek

Mr. Chester Francis "Ali" Alibozek, 80, of 690 Sandmill Road, Cheshire, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Adams on January 13, 1934, a son of the late Chester and Eleanor (Mikuszewski) Alibozek. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1951. Mr. Alibozek was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army 82nd Airbourne Division and worked in the Pentagon as a Polish Translator until receiving his Honorable Discharge on March 31, 1955. Chester last worked as a construction superintendent for the former D. Krutiak Construction Co., Adams and previously worked for Petricca Construction. He was a proud member of the Polish American Club in South Deerfield, the Adams Post 160 American Legion, and a past member of the Maple Grove Civic Club and St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, Adams. Remembered for his quick wit and infectious smile, Chester was extremely proud of all his grandchildren, spending much of his time sharing their successes and achievements with friends and family members, keeping his own scrapbook of newspaper clippings for reference. He was an avid sports fan of the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Tigers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and LPGA golf. He played softball for teams in Adams and North Adams until his late fifties, winning many tournaments and awards for his expertise on the pitching mound. He is survived by, 1 Daughter – Linda Saharczewski and her fiancé, Tony Grandshaw of Adams, 2 Sons – Douglas Alibozek and his wife Carrie and Richard "Chez" Alibozek and his wife Amy, all of Adams, 6 Grandchildren – Kristin Saharczewski, Kelsey Alibozek, and Nathan, Chad, Trevor and Derek Alibozek, 1 Brother – Francis Alibozek and his wife Ginger of Feeding Hills, 3 Sisters – Helen Durant and her husband Francis of Adams, Josephine Trimarchi of Adams and Frances Whiteman of Guilford, Ct, His former wife and friend, Frances (Straczek) Alibozek of Adams and his former Son-in-Law and friend, Richard Saharczewski of Adams and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be on Saturday, October 4, at 12:30PM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 1:00PM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Saturday from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at the funeral home.
