Mrs. Arline M. Richer

Mrs. Arline M. (Hebert) Richer, of 95 McArthur Drive, Clarksburg, died Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016, at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Williamstown on September 3, 1936, daughter of the late Leo Arsene and Lily (Grant) Hebert. She attended the former Broad Brook school, and graduated from the former Williamstown High School in 1954. Following her graduation, she worked in the Payroll and Sales department at the former Sprague Electric's Marshall Street office for a year. She then left the area to be with her husband, who was serving in the US Navy, and lived in Vallejo, California, Bremerton, Washington and Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon their return ,she worked for the former Central Markets (now Price Chopper) on State Road from 1960 until 1969. She then went to work for the late Dr. Chester Budz, DDS until 1980 as his chairside assistant and office manager. She last worked at Williams College, first in the snack bar in the old Baxter Hall, then, in 1988, she went to work in Sawyer Library, first in the Reserve Department, then in late night in Circulation, until retiring in 1998. In May of 1991, she graduated from the Cosmetology Program at C.H. McCann Technical School, and worked in her daughter Kim's salon "Changes" for a short time, while working nights at the library. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, North Adams. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; and enjoyed sewing, knitting, macramé, flowers and gardening, craft shows, and especially her dogs. She and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Ormond Beach, Florida and riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, retired North Adams firefighter Edward O. Richer, whom she married on October 23, 1954 in St. Raphael's Church, Williamstown; Two daughters, Cindy Kimball (Mark) of Clarksburg, and Kim Demo LaFlamme of North Adams; A son, North Adams Firefighter Alan E. Richer (Stormy) of North Adams; Five grandchildren; Carly Kimball Smith (Dr. William Smith) of Harleysville, PA; Kurtis Kimball of North Adams, Justin Dwyer (Giselle) of Stephentown, NY; and Nathan and Wyatt Demo of North Adams; Three Great Grandchildren, Marcus James Smith and Elliot Edward Smith of Harleysville, PA; and Garrett Thomas Dwyer of Stephentown, NY; and several nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 8th, at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
