Mrs. A. Barbara Duval

Mrs. A. Barbara (Kirby) Duval, 88, of 7 Pinnacle Drive, Adams, died Saturday afternoon, November 7, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was born in North Adams on August 29, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Cahill) Kirby. She attended North Adams schools, graduating from Drury High School. She then graduated from the former North Adams State College. Mrs. Duval worked for the New England Telephone Company in North Adams. She then took time out to raise her family, a job that she loved. She returned to work for several years at Stonemarketing Corp. in Adams, then as a switchboard operator at the former North Adams Regional Hospital until retiring. She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II and was a former member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Rosary Sodality and the Adams Study Club. Mrs. Duval was an accomplished Bridge player, and enjoyed travelling, shopping at Macy's with her girls, going to the movies with her boys, and spending time with her family. She was a fan of old movies, John Wayne and Tom Brady. She was also a caregiver to many friends and relatives, giving them rides to appointments and running errands for them. She was a fine example of a true lady. Her husband, Russell E. Duval, whom she married on July 11, 1956, died on June 30, 1988. She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Williamson and her husband, Dana, of Phoenix, AZ; Jeanne Wilk and her husband, Paul, of Cheshire; Sandie Boisvert and her husband, Bruce, of Stamford, VT; Pat Nicklein of Northport, FL; and Betty Hickey of Huntington, CA; Her sons, Russell Duval and his wife, Pam, and John Duval and his wife, Debbie, both of Adams; and Henry Duval of Pittsfield, MA; A sister-in-law, Dorothy Kirby of North Adams; 21 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, JoAnn Correll, and by her brother, Francis Kirby. The funeral will be held on Friday, November 13th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
