Mr. William J. Rennie

August 20, 1944 - October 29, 2018

William James Rennie, 74, of Adams, died on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Williamstown Commons. He was born in Malden, MA on August 20, 1944, a son of the late William and Catherine (Collins) Rennie. He attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1963. Mr. Rennie was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Air Force from July 3, 1963 until receiving his Honorable Discharge as Airman 2nd Class on June 30, 1967. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Rennie went to work for the former General Electric Company in Pittsfield for 20 years until he left to start his own construction business, W.J. Rennie & Sons, which he operated until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Nancy J. Ryan, whom he married on April 20, 1968; two sons, William C. Rennie and his wife Jennifer of Dalton and Kevin J. Rennie of Adams; two daughters, Kathleen M. Rennie of Catskill, NY and Laura B. Rennie of North Adams; a sister, Marilyn Kunes and her husband Kenneth of Pittsfield; a sister-in-law, Marianne Rennie of Pittsfield; five grandsons, Anthony, Joseph, Lorenzo, Marcelo and Ronin and by three nephews and a niece, Jason and Michael Rennie and Kenneth and Heather Kunes. He was predeceased by his brother Dr. Robert Rennie. Funeral services and burial will be private for the family. There are no calling hours.
