Wallace Griswold Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Wallace Smith Griswold, 94, of 29 Burt St. Adams, died early Tuesday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital following a short illness. He was born in New Lebanon, New York on August 21, 1910, a son of the late George and Hattie ( Van Hamlin) Griswold, and came to Adams as a child, attending Adams schools. Mr. Griswold last worked at Pfizer, Inc. in Adams until retiring in 1975. Earlier, he had worked as a truck driver at the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. in North Adams, and as a youth had worked for several area farms. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cheshire, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed horses. His wife, the former Evelyn E. Best, whom he married in 1935, died on June 18, 1996. He is survived by 2 daughters - Mabel Sherman and her husband, Ferdinand, of Adams, and Mary Lou Kleiner and her husband, Kenneth, of Tilton, New Hampshire; 5 Grandchildren - Deborah Dyndor of Clearwater Beach, Florida; Diane Saldo of Stamford, VT; Tammy Gluck of Newton, N.H.; Kenneth Kleiner, Jr. of Hudson, N.H. and Daniel Kleiner of Manchester, N.H., and 8 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers - Walter and George Griswold, Jr. The funeral will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 12 Noon in the Auge`-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday from 11:00 AM until the service. Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Cheshire, or to any charity of the donor's choice, through the funeral home.
