Verne Harrington
Mr. Verne F. "Zeke" Harrington, 79, of 7 Quality St. Adams, died Saturday afternoon at his home. He was born in Covington, Pennsylvania on March 7, 1925, a son of the late Orville and Lottie (Fitzroy) Harrington. He came to Adams as a child with his family, and attended Adams schools. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the US Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He re-enlisted following the war, and was honorably discharged in 1950. Mr. Harrington worked in the maintenance department of the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District for 25 years, until retiring 20 years ago. Earlier, he had worked at the Adams Wastewater Treatment Plant, the former Rochester Paper Co. in Adams, and Beloit Corp. in Dalton. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas, Adams, and a member of Adams Post 160 American Legion. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth M. Bishop, whom he married on August 19, 1949; 5 Sons - Martin Harrington and his wife, Cindy, of Milford, New Hampshire; Michael Harrington and his companion, Cheryl Horn, of Adams; Mark Harrington and his wife, Mary, of Adams; Marshal Harrington and his wife, Kate, of Cheshire; and Matthew Harrington, of Adams; 2 Daughters - Michele Pause and her husband, Donald, of Savoy; and Melissa Misiuk and her husband, Robert, of Corona, California; 5 Sisters - Dorothy Parmalee of Williamstown, MA; Doris Marcil of Adams; Agnes Bugbee of Savoy; Lenore Brooks of Pittsfield; and Evelyn Teot of Irvine, California; 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren , and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers - Lyle & Irvin Harrington. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd, at 9:00 AM from the Auge`-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams, celebrated by Mr. Harrington's nephew, Rev. Jeddie P. Brooks, Pastor of St. Patrick's Parish, Monson, MA. Burial will follow in Maple St. Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children or the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
