Paul R. Burdick, Sr.

May 23, 1934 - April 30, 2007

Mr. Paul Roger Burdick, Sr., 72, of 11 Haggerty St. Adams, died Monday afternoon, April 30, 2007, at his home. He was born in North Adams on May 23, 1934, a son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Reynolds) Burdick, and attended North Adams schools. Mr. Burdick lived in Bennington, Vermont for several years, and also in Connecticut for several years, where he worked as a professional tractor-trailer driver for E.J. Kelly Trucking in Torrington, CT. He returned to this area in 1980, where he worked for County Construction Co. until retiring in 1980. He had also managed the Historic Valley Park Campground in North Adams for two seasons with his wife. From 1998 until 2006, he delivered the Berkshire Eagle and North Adams Transcript newspapers, and was very fond of his customers and their pets. He continued to be an active member and supporter of Cub Scout Pack 104 in North Adams, and Boy Scout Troop 38 in Adams. He is survived by his wife, the former Elaine J. Clark, whom he married on December 13, 1975; 3 Sons - Paul "Skip" Burdick of Bennington, VT., Jay E. Burdick and his wife, Penny, of Shaftsbury, VT; and Peter P. Belmonte, Jr. of Adams; 1 Daughter - Ann Marie Belmonte and her husband, Richard J. Solomon, Jr. of Adams, MA; 4 Grandchildren - Mathew Burdick, Zachary Burdick, Dakota Burdick and Kadence Burdick; 4 Brothers - William Burdick of Adams; Gerald Burdick of Port Orange, Florida; Jack Burdick of San Antonio, Texas and Larry Burdick of Williamstown; 1 Sister - Evelyn "Betty" Beckwith of Burlington, Vermont; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. He was predeceased by 2 Brothers - Lawrence Burdick, Jr. and Robert Burdick, and by 3 sisters - Helen Burdick, Carol Severin and Gertrude Volpi; as well as his beloved cat, Rufus. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday evening, May 2, 2007, at 7:00 PM in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA. Mr. Burdick's cousin, Rev. Roy Burdick, Pastor of the Florida Baptist Church, will officiate. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, or to the Boy Scouts of America, through the funeral home.
