Kazimier L. "Kasey" Piekos, 66, of 828 Sandmill Road, Cheshire, a longtime local businessman, died early Friday morning at his home following a short illness. He was born in Adams on November 14, 1938, a son of the late Jan & Karolina (Bulsa) Piekos, and attended schools in Cheshire and Adams, graduating from the former Adams High School in 1957. Following his graduation, he worked for Rolling Acres Farm in Cheshire until 1960. He then worked at the former Hunter Machine Co. in North Adams until 1964, when he started his own business, Mt. Greylock Vault Co. in Adams, which manufactured burial vaults and concrete steps and septic tanks. He also owned and operated the former Bellevue Bouquet & Memorials in Adams for several years. In 1980, he developed Sunset Acres Farm in Windsor, which he operated for the past 25 years. He enjoyed volleyball, motorcycling, snowmobiling and restoring antique tractors. He also enjoyed polka music & dancing. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. He is survived by his wife, the former Ginger Alibozek, whom he married on February 26, 1977; 2 Daughters - Lisa Boyer of Clarksburg, MA and Lynn French of Naugatuck, CT; 1 Son - John Piekos of North Adams; 4 Grandchildren - Erin and Megan Boyer and Lauren and Evan Piekos; 1 stepdaughter - Lisa LeProvost of Williston, VT; 1 Stepson - John Burke of Windsor, MA; 4 step grandchildren - Brendan and Taya LePrevost and Brecken and Aspen Burke; 3 brothers - Henry Piekos of Kissimmee, FL; Thaddeus Piekos of Ransomville, N.Y. and Frank Piekos of Cheshire, MA; 4 Sisters - Millie Jajko and Sophie Gwozdz, both of Cheshire, MA; Victoria Zabawa of Southampton, MA and Marie Adamcek of Lancaster, PA; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. He was predeceased by 4 brothers - Joseph, Stanley, Walter & John Piekos. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 10th, at 8:45 AM from the Auge`-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will be in Cheshire Cemetery in the Spring. Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
