Mr. Frank Stanley Kurpaska, 87, of 2 Meadow Lane, Adams, died late Wednesday evening at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. He was born in Adams on March 15, 1918, a son of the late Frank and Anna (Lopata) Kurpaska, and attended Adams schools. He served with the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Kurpaska worked in the produce department at the former A & P Supermarkets at several of their stores for many years, until retiring in 1983. He then worked for many years as the sexton of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and School, until retiring last year. Earlier, he worked briefly at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co., General Electric and the former Jones Division in Adams. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, and a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society. He enjoyed nature and gardening, especially growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed picking and packaging blueberries at Wild Wind Farm in Windsor, which were sold to raise monies for missions in other countries. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Helen A. Dzierga, whom he married on May 30, 1940; 2 Daughters - Mary Kurpaska and Gerri Kurpaska, both of Adams; 2 Grandsons - Anthony Kurpaska of Pelham, MA and Daniel Kurpaska of Sunderland, MA; 3 Great Grandchildren - Dana, James & Brittany Kurpaska; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. His son, Frank A. Kurpaska, died May 22, 1973. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, John and Matthew Kurpaska, and by 2 sisters, Gladys Alibozek and Stacia Ouellette. The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 9:00 AM from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday, October 6, from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church or School through the funeral home.
