Mr. Edward J. Stefanik, 81, of 23 Anthony St. Adams, died early Saturday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in Adams on December 19, 1925, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Glod) Stefanik. He attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and the former Adams High School. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the 363rd Ordnance Maintenance Company in the Pacific Theater, where he participated in the Campaign for Okinawa. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Asiatic-Pacific, Army of Occupation and Good Conduct Medals. Mr. Stefanik worked at the former W.R. Grace Co. in Adams for 35 years, until retiring in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, the W.R. Grace Quarter Century Club, and the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and its Bowling League. His wife, the former Patricia Groves, whom he married on November 12, 1955, died on December 31, 1989. He is survived by 1 Daughter - Susan Corah and her husband, Chip, of Glenville, New York; 1 Sister - Gladys Wilk, of Adams; 3 Grandchildren - Kathryn, Erin and Nicholas Corah, all of Glenville, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Theodore and Michael Stefanik. The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 5th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Libera service at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Glencliff Elementary School Playground Fund through the funeral home.
