Mr. David Vincelette
April 1, 2021
David R. Vincelette of Duanesburg, New York, formerly of Adams, died at his home on April 1, 2021. He was 80. Dave was the son of Raymond and Imelda Vincelette and attended Notre Dame elementary school in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. He then graduated from the University of Massachusetts and had a career and retired from the New York State Department of Civil Service as a Classification and Compensation Analyst. He had no use for complaining about trivial matters like long hours on the job, or life’s pesky irritations. All who knew Dave would describe him as resolute and a very dry sense of humor. He liked punctuality and if you were late would get you with his ‘quick wit’. He had no use for small talk. But the many who loved him understood that not giving him the time and inclination to loosen up was a mistake. Because he was a man with a dry wit and deep intelligence, that quiet spirit made him the best of listeners, and he would offer sage advice, only if asked. To be loved by Dave was to have a friend for life. Dave was a passionate hunter and sportsman enjoyed his large gun collection and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of his baseball heroes. He was an avid reader and it had to be of interest historically, on airplanes, climbing, and cars vintage or otherwise. He owns a Porsche and Mercedes to this day. Dave enjoyed traveling on his Harley and made many trips around the countryside and driving back roads taking many photographs to chart his journeys. He was an accomplished pilot obtaining his license in North Adams, MA. Dave is survived by his brother Alan, and companion Barbara Higgins of Tavares, FL, his brother Bruce of Fall River, Ma. His nephew Steven of Albany, N.Y. and niece Julie Giardino of Ravina, NY; Noah, Fall River; Benjamin, Melissa, Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Josephine (Jo-Jo) of San Francisco, CA as well as many other cousins. Dave was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Imelda Vincelette and his grandparents. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 16th at 1:00 P.M. in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Due to current restrictions, all attending must wear a face covering and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local public library to honor his commitment to reading.
