Charles H. Dixon

Mr. Charles Henry Dixon, 85, of 145 Bellevue Avenue, Adams, died Tuesday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in Adams of December 29, 1919, son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Todt) Dixon. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1939. Mr. Dixon was a 30 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He flew 34 missions with the 100th Bomb Group in Europe during World War II. He was stationed in the Far East at the time of the Korean Conflict and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Dixon also worked for several years as an operator for the Adams Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Adams. He is survived by his wife of 48 years the former Doreen M. O'Malley, whom he married on February 9, 1957 Besides his wife, he leaves; 1 Son - Christopher O. Dixon, of Brynmawr, PA 1 Brother - Robert Dixon, of Adams; And several in-laws, nieces, and nephews in the United States and England. He was predeceased by a brother David Dixon, and by a sister Jean Wilson. The funeral will be held on Saturday August 27, at 9:00AM from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Funeral Service in the First Congregational Church of Adams at 10:00AM. Rev. Michael Mullany, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association or the Fisher House Foundation Inc, (which provides a place to stay for families with loved ones in a Veterans Hospital), through the funeral home.
