Mr. Byron David "Dusty" Johnson, 72, of 23 Grove St. Adams, died Friday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was born in Adams on August 13, 1934, a son of the late George and Carrie (Mahar) Johnson, and attended Adams schools, graduating from the former Adams High School in 1953. Mr. Johnson last worked at Specialty Minerals Corp. in Adams for 30 years, until retiring in 1996. Earlier, he had worked at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams, and at Excelsior Printing in North Adams. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Adams, where he served as a Vestryman and member of the Choir, as well as a volunteer for many church activities. He had served for several years with Company M of the Massachusetts National Guard, and was a volunteer driver for the Road to Recovery program of the American Cancer Society. He was an avid reader and had enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Earline E. Looman, whom he married on May 11, 1957; 1 Son - David Johnson and his wife, Jill, of Adams; 2 Daughters - Judy Dumas and her husband, Gary, of Severn, Maryland, and Ann Johnson of Adams; 2 Sisters - Dorothy Howcroft of Williamstown, and Anna Johnson of Seattle, Washington; 5 Grandchildren - John Crosby, Steven Wandrei, Kayleigh Wandrei, Kimberly Dumas, and Alicia Johnson; 3 Step Grandchildren - Marie LaPointe, James Dumas and Timothy Dumas; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. A son, Jeffrey E. Johnson, died on February 3, 1979. He was predeceased by his brother, George Johnson. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 18th, at 12 Noon from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 1:00 PM in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. R. Ellen White, Priest-in-Charge. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church through the funeral home.
