Anthony Vigna

Mr. Anthony Vigna, 85, of 14 Haggerty St. Adams, died early Saturday morning, February 4, 2006, at Albany (NY) Medical Center. He was born in North Adams on September 1, 1920, a son of the late Frank and Carolina (Gaglianese) Vigna, and attended North Adams schools. Mr. Vigna last worked as a security guard at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 15 years, until retiring in 1989. Earlier, he had worked at the former First National Stores at several of their locations, and also at the former Gale Shoe Co. in North Adams. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, sketching and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Dzierga, whom he married on October 14, 1950; 3 Sons - Michael A. Vigna of Adams; Anthony G. Vigna and his wife, Deb, of Pittsfield; and Dr. Paul A. Vigna and his wife, Judi, of Norwell, MA; 1 daughter - Patricia M. LaFrance and her husband, Kerry, of Adams; 2 Sisters - Mary Esposito and Roseanne Shakar, both of North Adams; 7 Grandchildren - Anthony G. Vigna, Jr., and Amanda, Thomas, Caroline, and Luke Vigna, and Christopher and Sarah LaFrance; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. He was predeceased by 5 brothers - Rocco, Thomas, Louis, Joseph and Agostino Vigna; and by 2 sisters - Rosa and Teresa Vigna. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7th, at 9:00 AM from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, St. Stanislaus School, or to the St. John Kanty Schoalrship Fund at St. Stanislaus Church, through the funeral home.
