Mrs. Alice Mary (Biros) Cichy, 77, of 10 Jordan St. Adams, died early Wednesday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was born in Adams on May 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Peter and Maria (Tomaszewski) Biros , and attended Adams schools. Mrs. Biros worked for several years at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams, until her marriage. She was then a homemaker most of her life, but returned to work part time at Pedrin's Dairy Bar in North Adams and at the former Coffee Time Vending Co. in Adams after her family was grown. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, sewing, trips to the Mohegan Sun casino, and especially her family. She also cared for many abandoned and homeless animals. Her husband, Francis C. Cichy, whom she married on June 7, 1948, died on July 29, 1994. She is survived by 3 daughters - Cynthia Lanoue of North Adams; Mary Krutiak of Clarksburg, and Dr. Anne Poirot of Drury, MA; 1 Son - Francis Cichy of Clay, New York; 6 Brothers - John Biros, Theodore Biros, Edwin Biros, Joseph Biros, Edward Biros and Richard Biros, all of Adams; 2 Sisters - Gladys Czubryt and Cecelia Michalenko, both of Adams; 9 Grandchildren - Rodd Lanoue; Joanne, Caroline, F. Christopher, Colleen, Joseph and Kathleen Cichy; and Amanda and Daniel Krutiak; 3 Great Grandchildren - Brodie, Jovan and Isaiah Cichy; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. She was predeceased by 1 sister - Jane Armata; and by 3 Brothers - Francis, Stanley and Albin Biros. The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 4th, at 10:00 AM from the AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
