Alfred Pierce
Alfred Arthur Pierce, 69, of 41 Main Road, Savoy, died Tuesday morning at his home. He was born in Savoy on September 21, 1935, a son of Marion L. (Gardner) Pierce and the late Oliver W. Pierce. He attended schools in Adams, but resided in Savoy for many years. Mr. Pierce last worked as a truck driver for Roberts Bros. Lumber in Ashfield for several years, until retiring in 2004. Earlier, he worked as a driver for the US Postal Service and Mullen Bros. Movers. He enjoyed antique tractors, and was a member of the Western Massachusetts Tractor Puller's Association. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Rita Finnegan, whom he married on November 12, 1960; 1 Son - Scott Pierce of Cheshire, MA; 4 Daughters - Cheryl Lewis of Cheshire, MA; Lisa Pierce Buffis of Lee, MA; Kimberly Witek of North Adams, MA and Elizabeth Ackley of Amsterdam, New York; His Mother - Mrs. Marion L. Pierce of Adams; 2 Sisters - Evelyn Rochelo and Myrtle Franceschini, both of Adams; 10 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild, and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles Pierce and Wilfred Pierce. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 9:00 AM from the AUGE`-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Western Mass. Tractor Puller's Association through the funeral home.
