Mr. William J. Carlow

Mr. William Joseph Carlow, 83, of 496 East Harbor Rd., Cheshire, died on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Adams on June 5, 1932, a son of the late Thomas and Katherine (Bettendorf) Carlow. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School, having played on the 1950 basketball team that went to the state championships in Boston. Mr. Carlow was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge. Mr. Carlow worked as a production supervisor for the former Pfizer Company in Adams for 38 years until retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire and was a member of the Adams Post 160 American Legion. In his younger years he enjoyed fly-fishing and camping with his wife around New England. He was an avid bicyclist and rode well into his seventies. He had also enjoyed a game of golf with his friends and grandsons. His greatest joy was his family, who he gave selflessly to with his time and wisdom. He was an avid cheerleader at his grandsons sporting events and tried to never miss a game or meet. He will leave a legacy of love to his family and they will look for his guidance and support always. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Ann L. Claudell, whom he married on April 4, 1953; 1 Son – David Carlow and his wife Teresa of Washington, MA; 1 Daughter – Deborah Barrett and her husband Kevin of Adams; 4 Grandsons – Brian Barrett and his wife Ashley, Josh Barrett, Daniel Barrett and Ian Carlow; 2 Brothers – James Carlow and Bruce Carlow and his wife Carol, all of Adams; 1 Sister – Rena Mahar of Adams and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Carlow. The funeral will be on Wednesday, December 2, at 8:45AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. Matthew Guidi. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the funeral home.
