Mrs. V. Marguerite Chittenden

V. Marguerite (Isabelle) Chittenden, 93, of Adams died peacefully at her home on January 11, 2017. She was born in Adams, MA in 1923 to the late Celina (LeGrand) Isabelle and Joseph T. Isabelle. She was married for 72 years to William M. Chittenden who pre-deceased her on December 2, 2016. She attended Adams schools and was a graduate of Adams High School Class of 1942. Midge was a communicant of St. John Paul II Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, and a former Girl Scout leader. She retired from the Food Service Department at Williams College. In her younger days she was a gymnast at the former Turn Hall in Adams. Midge enjoyed bowling well into her 70's. She and Bill enjoyed several years of square dancing. She was also an avid knitter. She had many collectibles with the symbol of her favorite bird, the cardinal. She leaves three daughters, Sandra Gamari and her husband Michael of Winsted, CT, Susan Chittenden of Merrimack, NH, Sheila Kowalski and her husband Norman of Granville, NY, two sons, Mark Chittenden and his wife Laurie of Adams, MA, Matthew Chittenden and his wife Barbara of Lehigh Acres, FL. She also leaves a daughter-in-law Nancy Chittenden of Adams. She was predeceased by a son Martin Chittenden and daughter Shirley Chittenden and a son-in-law, James Davin. She leaves ten grandchildren: Nathan Chittenden of Savoy, MA, Lindsay Chittenden of Cheshire, MA, Anali Chittenden of Adams, MA, Eric Gamari of Torrington, CT, Amanda Ferguson of Sherwood, OR, Josh Chittenden of Adams, MA, Courtney Chittenden of Pownal, VT, Heather Swistak of Cheshire, MA, Jordan Kowalski of Destin, FL and Suzann Kowalski, of Oakland, CA. She leaves ten great-grandchildren: Alaina Chittenden, Wyatt and Olivia Ferguson, Taylor and Madison Galipeau, Viktor and Trevor Kowalski, Maya and Owen Gamari and Brynna Swistak. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Norman and Henry Isabelle and four sisters, Madeline Duda, Rita Keefe, Leona and Agnes Isabelle. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 14th, at 10:30 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 9:30 until 10:30, at the funeral home.
