Roger G. Mckay

Mr. Roger Gerald McKay, 67, of 4 Edmunds St., Adams, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at the North Adams Regional Hospital surrounded by family after his heart, so full with love for family and friends could take no more. Roger was born on May 3, 1942 to Harold and Helen Yokom McKay in Grand Rapids, Mich. He attended schools in Grand Rapids, MI and also took several courses at Grand Rapids Junior College and Berkshire Community College. He married the love of his life, Linda Jean Babeu of Adams, MA on May 29, 1976 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams, MA. of which he was a long time parishioner. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Marines and member of the Marine VMF(AW) 542. Hoo-rah! He also had a long and fulfilling career at General Electric, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin and retired from General Dynamics as a SPALT Coordinator. He later worked at the UPS Store in Pittsfield. Roger enjoyed his family, friends, fishing and travel, especially to Florida. He loved riding his bicycle on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, making people laugh, taking camping trips with his family and working in his patio garden growing tomatoes. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Helen and his mother in law Jean Babeu. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his sons; Christopher and Shaun McKay; and his daughter Melissa Allen and her husband, Ged. He is also survived by one sister Nancy Dewey and her husband, Raymond, two brothers, Tom and his wife, Sherlene, Bob and his wife, Carol, his brothers and sisters in law; Frank and Theresa Cyrulik and Mark and Kathleen Babeu; his father in law, Phillip Babeu and nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Roger Gerald McKay will be on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the St. Stanislaus Kostka School, Adams Ambulance Service or the Alert Hose Company, through the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
