Robert Michael

Mr. Robert Daniel Michael, 73, of 17 Hathaway St., Adams, died on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Duluth, Minnesota on January 25, 1941, a son of the late Lambert and Marie (Weitzel) Michael. He attended schools in Minnesota. Mr. Michael was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Navy from 1959 until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1962. Mr. Michael worked in the Power Transformer Division of General Electric Co., Pittsfield until retiring after 26 years of service. He had also worked for the former North Adams Regional Hospital, Sprague Electric Co., and W.R. Grace, Adams. He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul, II, Adams. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers with his son and grandsons, working on cars and traveling, especially to Tampa to visit his son. He loved spending time with his family and most of all his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Shirley M. Dimitropolis, whom he married on August 3, 1963; 1 Son – Robert J. Michael and his wife Clara of Tampa, FL; 3 Daughters - Annette Michael and her significant other Frank Ostrander of Lanesboro, and Cynthia Michael and Barbara Varno, both of Adams; 2 Brothers – Gerald Michael and his wife Raz of Taylor, MI and Daniel Michael of Duluth, MN; 3 Sisters – Rosemary Michael of Maryhurst, OR, Anna Mae Vercelline of Anchorage, Alaska and Katherine Cooper and her husband Daniel of Duluth, MN; 8 Grandchildren – Corey, Tiffany, Robert, Jacob, Casey, Josh, Alex and Anthony; 2 Great Grandchildren – Olivyia Madison and Colby and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 Brothers – Leo, Al, Joseph and Lambert Michael, Jr. and by 1 sister, Delores Tropiano. The funeral will be on Monday, July 21, at 9:00AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in the Parish Church of St. John Paul, II at Notre Dame des Sept Deloures, celebrated by Rev. Tomasz Gorny. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Sunday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home.
