Richard Love

Mr. C. Richard Love, 86, of Adams, died Saturday morning, February 9, 2013, at Springside of Pittsfield. He was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, on June 28, 1926, son of the late Chester and Vivienne (Carll) Love. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army Air Corps until his Honorable Discharge in 1945. Following his military service, Mr. Love returned to Maine and received his Bachelor's Degree in elementary education and his Master's degree in elementary education and supervision from the University of Maine. He was the principal in the Calais, Brownville Junction and Lubec, Maine school systems. In 1964, the family moved to Adams, where he was Principal of the former Howland Ave. School. He then served as Principal at Hoosac St. School and supervising Principal at Liberty St. and Commercial St. Schools. In 1970, he became principal of C.T. Plunkett Elementary School, where he remained until his retirement in June of 1989. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Adams. He and his wife loved to travel in their RV after their retirement, and had traveled across the United States to California and back. His wife of 62 years, the former Elaine H. Bell, whom he married on June 19, 1950, died on December 6, 2012. He is survived by 2 sons, Larry R. Love of Arlington, Texas; and C. Randall Love of Rhinebeck, NY; a daughter, Kathryn Perras and her husband, Peter, of Cheshire; 2 granddaughters, Marlo Livsey and her husband, Mark, of Pittsfield; and Erica Perras of North Adams; 2 Great Grandsons, Aaron and Joshua Livsey; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Wanat. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 14th, at 10:00 AM in the First Congregational Church 42 Park St. (Rte. 8) Adams. Rev. Mike Mullany, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, are Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM.
