Jean Palano Pittsfield

Mrs. Jean Ann (Chenail) Palano, 71, of Broadview Terrace, Pittsfield, died Monday, December 12, 2011, at her home. Born in Adams on May 24, 1940, the daughter of Clifford and Mildred (Langner) Chenail, she attended local schools and was a 1958 graduate of the former Adams High School, and a 1960 graduate of Bay Path Junior College. Following college, she was briefly employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She was a longtime communicant of the former St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Adams, where she was the church secretary for many years, and was active in parish activities. At the time of her death, she was a communicant and lay reader at All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. Jean enjoyed time with her family, and her travels around the country. She most recently spent a wonderful weekend touring the Finger Lakes region of New York with her son and his partner Nanci Beckman. She dedicated her time and service to her church community, she was a master of the crossword puzzle, and an avid historian of classic movies. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of nearly 30 years, Frank S. Palano, and her brother, James Chenail. Jean is survived by her son, Glenn J. Grillon of Nassau, NY; and his daughters, Dominique and Claudia Grillon, both of Pittsfield; her sister, Carol Beauregard of East Granby, CT; her sister-in-law, Sharon Chenail of Sheffield, MA; her nephew, Andrew Beauregard and his wife Larissa of East Granby, CT; and her step children, Juliana Chaney and her husband, Jim of Milford, CT; Catherine Palano of Sheffield, MA and Stephen Palano of Salt Lake City, UT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17th, at 1:00 PM in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Route 8, Adams, where the Burial Office will be conducted by the Rev. Edward King, Priest in Charge of All Saints Episcopal Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours.
