Helen Shaw

Mrs. Helen Aniela (Ordyna) Shaw, 95, of 62 Maple St. Adams, entered into the arms of Jesus, her loving Savior, on Tuesday morning, January 1, 2013, at her home. She was born in Adams on December 15, 1917, a daughter of Michael and Aniela (Subik) Ordyna, and attended local schools. Mrs. Shaw last worked as a stitcher at the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams, until retiring in 1984. Earlier, she had worked in the card room at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams until it closed in 1957; and then worked as a clerk at the former McKinley Square Pharmacy for several years. She had been a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, and was a member of the Polish National Alliance. Our Mon had unconditional love for everyone. She had the wonderful gift of making everyone feel loved and special. Her great faith was our inspiration during any challenge that we faced. We were blessed to be able to celebrate Mom and Dad's 75th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends on Sept. 4, 2012. They were the perfect model for what marriage should be. Mom cherished her blue-eyed Babe, and Dad sang all the old songs to Mom morning, noon and night. We will always treasure the family gatherings on Maple Street and Mom's blueberry muffins, baked beans, fruited jello, and kapusta. She loved her front porch, but enjoyed immensely our trips to Maine where she basked in the smiles and affection of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will always remember her kindness and grace. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Frank "Babe" Shaw, whom she married on September 4, 1937; 4 daughters, Nancy O'Brien, and Betty Bresett and her husband, Bill, both of Adams; and Joan Gale and Dee Dee O'Bryan, both of Cheshire; Her sisters-in-law, Frances Ordyna, of Adams and Dorothy Daunais of Williamstown; 12 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Bresett, on April 4, 2009; 4 sisters, Alice Rysz, Frieda Soja, Josephine Kazlauskas, and Isabel Rodowicz; and by her brother, Casimer Ordyna. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5th, at 12 Noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School, 108 Summer St. Adams, MA 01220.
