Helen C. Lubowicz

Mrs. Helen C. (Leja) Lubowicz, 95, of 17 Haggerty St. Adams, died Saturday evening, January 31st, at Williamstown Commons. She was born in Adams on August 5, 1913, daughter of the late John and Mary (Banas) Leja. She attended Adams schools, including St. Stanislaus Elementary School. Mrs. Lubowicz last worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for many years, until retiring. Earlier, she had worked at the former Wall Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams, the former Pociask Clothing Store and Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams, and the former Silver Hills Rest Home in Connecticut. She was a communicant of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, Adams, and was a member of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and baking, and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband, Edwin C. Lubowicz, whom she married on August 16, 1941, died on March 7, 2000. She is survived by 1 son, Ronald Lubowicz, and his wife, Barbara Murphy-Lubowicz , of Lubbock, Texas; 1 daughter, Joan Rivers and her husband, Gary, of North Adams; 4 Grandchildren, John Rivers and his wife, Nancy, of Middletown, Rhode Island; Christopher Rivers and his wife, Jennifer, of Clifton Park, New York; and Katherine Murphy-Lubowicz and Jennifer Murphy-Lubowicz, both of Washington, D.C.; 6 Great Grandchildren, Brice, Andrew, Lauren, Hayley, Nicholas and Derek Rivers; 1 Sister - Felicia Skowronski, of Adams; 1 Brother, Ernest Leja of Henderson, Nevada; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Brian Lubowicz; 3 Sisters, Veronica Starsiak, Celia Frodyma and Sophie Kalisz, and by 3 brothers, Thaddeus, Stanley and Frank Leja. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 7th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in the Parish Church of Pope John Paul the Great, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home on Friday at 3:40 PM to recite the Rosary and pay their respects. Memorial donations may be made to Elder Services of Northern Berkshire County through the funeral home.
