Frances K. Kondel

Frances Katherine (Koziol) Kondel, 91, wife of the late John S. Kondel, and much loved mother of Frances and Katherine passed very peacefully into the afterlife at Sweet Brook of Williamstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Frances was born in Adams on August 16, 1920, the daughter of John and Sofia (Fafara) Koziol. She attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School and was a 1939 graduate of the former Adams Memorial High School. Mrs. Kondel married John Stanley Kondel on July 3, 1939 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams, and the settled at 6 Lincoln St., where they shared 62 years of marriage and raised their three children. After their children left home, Frances and John enjoyed over 20 years of health and retirement, and traveled to destinations such as Hawaii, Rome, many of the United States and the Caribbean. Following her husband's death on May 5, 2001, she participated in vacation adventures and making fond memories with her daughters. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed baking, sewing for her family and crocheting and reading. Her interests also included alternative medicine and holistic health. She was a Level III Reiki practitioner. Mrs. Kondel leaves two daughters who will miss her dearly. Frances Kondel Bedini and her husband Alfred Sr. of the town of Florida and Katherine Kondel Carman of Pittsfield; Six grandchildren, Diana M. Alexander, Michael L. Bedini and Alfred L. Bedini Jr., all of the town of Florida; Kiah D. Carman, Shawn M. Carman and Dylan J. Carman of Pittsfield; four great grandchildren, Alexis Bedini and Raffaele Bedini both of the town of Florida and Michal Alexander of Savannah, Georgia and Travis Alexander of Brighton. Her beloved son, John S. Kondel, Jr. died on February 14, 1997 at the age of 33. The funeral for Frances K. Kondel will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial and celebration of Mrs. Kondel's life at 11:00AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 9:00AM to 10:00AM in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County or the Berkshire Humane Society through the funeral home.
